Rapid growth, both in weight and height, and hormones. Increased energy requirements and increased risk of obesity and eating disorders in both sexes, due to patterns, family conflicts and influences from significant others.

  • Adequate coverage of needs for optimal development
  • Risk of iron deficiency anemia in both obese and normal girls due to the onset of menstruation
  • It is recommended to include extracurricular activities that please and wish the teenager
  • Avoid being rewarded with food, sweets and calorie high fat meals
  • Avoid eating meals in front of screen surfaces (TV, computer, tablet, smartphones)
  • Avoid sugar and soft drinks
  • Avoid junk food
  • At least 1 meal on weekdays and 3 main meals on weekends the whole family sits together at the dining table
  • Be careful when using table salt
  • Adequate sleep for their age
  • Pay attention to the consumption of alcohol, caffeine, tobacco as they affect their appetite and overall health
